‘I see the suffering in Gaza from Deir al-Balah Girls’ School, my displacement location, every morning, every evening, every moment. The pressures accumulate inside me, whether from my harsh life in this war or from the heartbreaking scenes that sadden me deeply, reflecting the miserable state we have reached.”

Mohammed Maghari’s work captures the realities of survival in the face of genocide, including daily struggles such as lack of water, absence of shoes, insecurity, and the ongoing trauma of repeated displacement, among other endless hardships. A new image of this makeshift life of forced displacement reveals itself in an artform that reflects its surroundings with intimate detail.
